چکیده

In this work, microbial lipid production from non-detoxified Eucalyptus bark hydrolysate (EBH) with oleaginous xylose-utilizing Ashbya gossypii strains was explored. The best producing strain a set of engineered identified in synthetic media mimicking the composition EBH (SM), profile characterized, and yeast extract corn steep liquor (CSL) were pinpointed as supplements enabling good balance between accumulation, biomass production, autolysis by A. gossypii. potential A877 to produce lipids further validated optimized minimally processed inhibitor-containing high sugar concentration, scaled up 2 L bioreactor. Lipid supplemented CSL reached titer 1.42 g/L, paving way for sustainable single-cell oil within concept circular economy placing an alternative by-product biorefineries.

Xylitol production from non-detoxified and non-sterile lignocellulosic hydrolysate using low-cost industrial media components

Immobilized Candida tropicalis cells in freeze dried calcium alginate beads were used for production of xylitol from lignocellulosic waste like corn cob hydrolysate without any detoxification and sterilization of media. Media components for xylitol fermentation were screened by statistical methods. Urea, KH2PO4 and initial pH were identified as significant variables by Plackett-Burman (PB) desi...

Enhanced xylose fermentation and hydrolysate inhibitor tolerance of Scheffersomyces shehatae for efficient ethanol production from non-detoxified lignocellulosic hydrolysate

Effective conversion of xylose into ethanol is important for lignocellulosic ethanol production. In the present study, UV-C mutagenesis was used to improve the efficiency of xylose fermentation. The mutated Scheffersomyces shehatae strain TTC79 fermented glucose as efficiently and xylose more efficiently, producing a higher ethanol concentration than the wild-type. A maximum ethanol concentrati...

Utilization of xylose by engineered strains of Ashbya gossypii for the production of microbial oils

BACKGROUND Ashbya gossypii is a filamentous fungus that is currently exploited for the industrial production of riboflavin. The utilization of A. gossypii as a microbial biocatalyst is further supported by its ability to grow in low-cost feedstocks, inexpensive downstream processing and the availability of an ease to use molecular toolbox for genetic and genomic modifications. Consequently, A. ...

The metabolism of glucose by Ashbya gossypii.

Considerable interest has been centered on Ashbya gossypii recently because of its ability to synthesize large quantities of riboflavin. The work of Wickerham, Flickinger, and Johnson (1946) called attention to the potential industrial significance of certain strains for the manufacture of riboflavin. During the course of studies on the synthesis of riboflavin it became of importance to leam so...

Increased riboflavin production from activated bleaching earth by a mutant strain of Ashbya gossypii.

The production of riboflavin from vegetable oil was increased using a mutant strain of Ashbya gossypii. This mutant was generated by treating the wild-type strain with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG). Riboflavin production was 10-fold higher in the mutant compared to the wild-type strain. The specific intracellular catalase activity after 3 d of culture was 6-fold higher in the muta...
